ComPulse
closes round1 funding---Sunil Rajanala
Hyderabad 22nd November, 2001 Economic Times
At a time when most technology start-ups are struggling to
survive, ComPulse Systems has just closed its first round of
funding received from the Bangalore based Fund (NVCF). The
company received funds less than Rs 1 crore.
Confirming the development, ComPulse Systems' co-founder and
CEO, Mr Prateek Jaswant told ET the NVCF funds amount to less
than Rs 1 crore, but are critical for the company's
operations. NVCF is promoted by a group of former bureaucats
and has invested in more than 20 firms, including the
city-based Bharat Biotech International.
ComPulse's flagship product, Virtual Cluster Manager is a tool
suite that monitors and manages the IT infrastructure of
companies and fills the gap between high cost bulky enterprise
management frameworks and low feature free downloadable tools.
"The downturn has helped in bringing us close to market
reality. We have shifted the business model and our strategy
is now to make it big through alliances and partnerships.
ComPulse is looking to tap the globally established service
provider network in India to be use it as a delivery vehicle
for its products," Mr Jaswant said.
Meanwhile, ComPulse has deferred its plans to venture into the
US markets by atleast more than one year. Instead, the company
intends to focus on the domestic market. The company plans to
offer VCM with Web-based move towards remote management of IT
infrastructure. The tool is available in two versions, the
full enterprise suite as well as a basic monitoring lite
version
.
"We are offering a migration path to a management
framework with a suite like VCM at lower cost, " Mr
Jaswant said. The co-founder and managing director e4e Labs
India, Dr Sridhar Mitta said CIOs all over the world are
responding to the economic slowdown by reducing the cost of
operations of their IT infrastructure and trying to maximise
benefits from investments already made.
"To help the CIOs in the endeavour, there are tow extreme
options, very expensive management frameworks and inexpensive
point tools. Now, ComPulse offers a cost effective option with
its tools not only bridging the gap but also migrated path to
frameworks." Dr Mitta said.
